Let it Raine- A Legend of Spyro fanfic

Chapter One

Hunter grasped the lifeless soil and studied it in his hand. He crumbled it and let the wind blow it away and looked up into the sunny sky. Not a single cloud could be found anywhere and the sun shined brighter than it did yesterday. Avalar is facing a water crisis and not a single drop could be found anywhere in sight and they have no choice but to borrow some water from Warfang, the dragon city.

Avalar was once filled with the beauty of nature and healthy  green vegetations and trees with a river that once flowed through this beautiful valley long before the drought struck them hard and robbed them of their water supplies. Staring at the now dried river bank, Hunter can see the bottom littered with bleached fish skeletons and animals who became victims of the drought after failing to find water.

Off in the distance, Hunter heard cries of vultures flying above him in circles over their next meal and Hunter had no doubt that the drought claimed another victim. As he walked toward the horizon of Avalar, he can see a barren waste land covered with dead trees and withered up plants and his village, struggling to keep alive during it's water shortage. He have no choice but to tell the leader that there's still no sign of water to be found anywhere.

"Last one in is a stinky ape." Shouted Sparx, flying a head of Spyro and Cynder. "Hey no fair, Sparx. You got a head start before us." said Spyro as they chased after their dragonfly friend. Ever since the start of the heat wave, Spyro, Sparx, and Cynder everyday been visiting a nearby lake to cool off from the scorching heat of the sun and relax from their long and rough journey to defeat Malefor and saving the world from his destruction.

Sparx looks back and laugh, seeing the two dragons trying to catch up to him and flies faster to reach the lake before they do. "Spyro I got a plan to catch up with him." said Cynder while running faster to catch up to Sparx. "What's the plan?" he asked her as he pick up the pace.

Sparx was feeling a lot of pride but he was unaware of Cynder's cleaver little plan. He felt a strong gust of wind blow right by him, causing him to do a summersault in the air. "What the? Hey!" Spyro and Cynder laughed as they flew ahead of Sparx to the lake. They flapped their wings hard to speed up to give Sparx a good chase. "Cynder, I can see the lake up ahead." Spyro said with excitement.

"I can see it too, Spyro. We're almost…There?" When they both landed on the edge of the lake, there was barely any water, just a shallow pool of muddy water at the bottom and dried aquatic plants and fishes. Sparx finally caught up with them and caught his breath. "All right you two, go ahead and brag about how you won and-" "Not now, Sparx we got a bigger problem here." said Spyro carefully walking down into the barely empty lake.

"What are you talking…about?" he saw the condition of the lake and floated down with Spyro and Cynder. "What happened and where did all the water go?" Cynder asked as she put her foot into the muddy water. "I don't know, Cynder. This lake was filled with water yesterday and now it's almost gone." said Spyro. They do not like the condition of the lake is in and they both climbed out.

Cynder climbed out and gasped. "Spyro, look." Spyro did and his eyes widen with shock. The field as far as the eyes can see that was once a beautiful field that they always flew above is now a dried up cracked waste land, not single live plant could be found. Cynder and Spyro stepped into the lifeless field and felt the earth's soil cracked under their feet. The sun's rays was unbearable that they used their own wings to shade themselves from the hot sun. Sparx took covered under one of Spyro's wings to stay out of the sun.

"I don't like it at one bit, Cynder. Everything is lifeless and depressing. Where did all the animals go?" said Spyro  "I don't like it for one bit either, Spyro. This field was filled with life and cool green grass for us to run through during a summer evening. Now it's all gone." said Cynder. "Kind of think of it, guys the weather has been acting odd rather lately. I mean we haven't seen a single cloud in the sky."

In unison, Spyro and Cynder looked at Sparx and then at the sky and he was right, not a single cloud could be found in the sky, just a flock of vultures circling above their heads. "You're right, Sparx. It haven't rained in days since the heat wave have started. We better go see Terrador and asked him how we could make it rain again. He's the new leader now after Ignitus is gone." Stretching their wings out, Spyro and Cynder took flight and headed toward to Warfang, the dragon city.
